Prepare Schematic Diagrams


If you will enter the board data manually, instead of translating CAD files, prepare the schematic diagrams.

  Assign pin numbers.
  Assign pin numbers (1 and 2) on two-lead components, such as resistors, inductors, and capacitors, that do not normally have any pin distinction.
You can use a blank PC board and an ohmmeter or continuity light to follow traces to help determine pin numbers.
  Write the pin numbers on the schematic diagram.
Device pins up or to the left are labeled as pin 1, device pins down or to the right are labeled pin 2 (see Figure 1).
  Assign electrical node names.
  Assign a name to each electrical node in the circuit.
  Assign node names to all unused device pins. This is important for shorts and opens testing and future considerations.
  Write the node names on the schematic diagram.
